Travelling from Madrid airport
To downtown

The most comfortable way to travel from Madrid airport to downtown is to book in advance at Aerocity which link is http://www.gomadrid.com/aerocity/. This is a very comfortable taxi service which can be reserved in advance. They will pick you up at the airport, with a 7-serater van. Consider this is a high tech service, and all driver speck fluency English. Price are relative to comfort, and it is 21 euros per one to three person travelling. It may rise to 24 euros per four people travelling. I remark this is cheaper than an ordinary taxi.

Something else, very expensive, is the chauffer-driven that can be reserved at this site: http://www.gomadrid.com/aerocity/mobile.html but, pay attention, this service will cost you from 65 Euros. It is an executive service, where you will be met directly at the airport in the arrival hall by your chauffer, who will speck English or other language if specified. Are also available excursions at an hourly rates, and this is a luxury service.

For the restricted budget travellers there is a regular bus service, that is bus N°.200, which departs from Terminal 2, and passing by Terminal 1, heads for the Avenida de America, where it stops. Here you may catch the Metro. There is the 10-trip 'Metrobus' ticket on sale at newspaper outlets, or tobacconist and Metro station. The price is Euro 6.70, and this special ticket will let you in the Metro too, although there is a supplementary charge to/from the airport.
A 1-way trip will cost you one Euro, and you can by tickets from the driver on board the bus. If you are staying in town a few days, I suggest you to buy a 10-trip tickets, at the convenient price of Euro 6.70

Lastly, you may decide to travel from Madrid's Barajas Airport to downtown by the Metro, so catch the Metro at Terminal 2 or 4, and in just 12 minutes you will reach Nuevos Ministerios Metro Station in Central Madrid. Consider it is even possible to check-in at this Metro station for same flight between 6.30 to 10.30 am. Check in advance with the airline, because not all flights are available.

Summary: A airport close to downtown
