Advantages: lots of flights

Disadvantages: terminals too big

I see Manchester Airport as a means to an end. It is horrifically busy and absolutely massive but it does serve a purpose.

Manchester is one of the only northern airports which flies to America, the Carribean, Australia and the Far East. Without Manchester Airport we would have to travel down to London for long haul flights. Not something you want to do just before a 10-12 hour flight or more.

I flew to Australia from Heathrow and it was a hidious journey down on the train and then tube. Manchester was around £300 more expensive but looking back it probably would have been worth it.

The airport is a little difficult to navigate as there is more than one terminal. Make sure you know in advance which terminal you need to avaid extremely long walks with heavy luggage.

The available flights are good and there's lots of variety. Lots of budget and more expensive carriers operate from here giving you a really good choice.

I wouldn't pay to park on site as there are a lot of companies near by offering cheaper parking. Securacar is a particularly good company I have used before.

Overall I don't like the airport as much as Doncaster or East Midlands but do understand that the services and routes are much plentiful.

Summary: Manchester airpost has great links to the world but is too big for me.
