Marrakech-Menara Airport (RAK) Reviews

Newest Review: ... ten desks open and as there were only about 15 people in front of me, I assumed that the line would move fairly quickly. Oh, how wrong I was!!! I have never stood in an airport queue where the queue moved so incredibly slowly. It took me 60 minutes to get through passport control - and I was near the front! Once I got into the baggage reclaim area, it all looked clean and new. It was spacious and airy and was nice enough. Baggage was on the carousel waiting - and luckily my baggage was there, but there were about ten people from my flight that I saw that had to go to the lost baggage area because their bags didn't turn up. Before goin... more

Arriving at Marrakech airport, first impressions seemed okay. The stairs were at the plane very quickly and so we were off the plane in a few minutes. We did need to walk a short distance across the tarmac to the main airport arrivals lounge - which again seemed okay. However, that's where the good impressions stopped. We had to fill out an arrivals card - which was fine - but there was not a single pen on the stands for travellers to use. As I didn't have a pen, I had to borrow one from another traveller - but I certainly wasn't alone in searching for the non-existent pen. And then came passport control. I was pleased to see that they had about ten desks open and as ... Read the complete review

I have recently come back from a weekend in Marrakech - and thought I would just say that while I felt Marrakech was in itself an interesting and mixed place (insofar as I saw some amazing hotels and residences alongside the markets which are full of hustlers - I kid you not!) The airport was actually a good experience. I have travelled a lot, and I feel that the airport gives an indication of the rest of the holiday - just because I guess 'first impressions' count a little. Plus, having just got off a flight and how check-in staff deal with passengers can greatly affect the mood of a person!! I would say that Marrakech-Menara is a very clean, and ... For those arriving at the Menara Airport, there's not really much to see. You are most likely to walk off the plane down the steps attatched, then across the small airpark and into the main building. Once inside you will join a long slow-moving queue of passengers to get your passports stamped. Make sure you have the passenger cards (that are given on the plane) filled out so you dont be sent to the back of the queue once you get to the front. After getting your passports approved and stamped, you only need to walk a few meters ahead to pick up your baggage. This area is qiute spacious with four rotating baggage belts that are clearly labelled for the ... Read the complete review

On the whole this airport is fine for travellers coming to and leaving marrakech but there are a few things you should know before you go to make your trip run a bit more smoothly. The airport itself It is a small airport and very easy to find your way around with clear signs in french and english. You will however need to queue a lot so give yourself some extra time. You don't seem to get much warning before the plane starts boarding but as there are only a handful of gates you shouldn't miss it. Also, there was only one announcement screen that we could see but again the small size of the departure lounge means this shouldn't be a big ... Read the complete review

I travelled to Marrakech in November 2007. The weather is great in Morrocco during this time of the year (approx 30 degrees on average) - so it was great to get away from the cold weather in the UK. As soon as you land in Marrakech Menara airport you'll feel the warmth and humidity (so i reccomend leaveing all those big cardi's and coats behind!) There is a taxi rank outside the airport, with plenty of drivers touting for business . They will quote tourists ridiculous prices like 150 to 250 dirhams when it should only cost around 30-40 dirhams. They will tell you that all taxi drivers charge the same, however you will find some taxi drivers will be willing ... Read the complete review
