Disadvantages: Airport Prices are a bit inflated

I travelled to Marrakech in November 2007. The weather is great in Morrocco during this time of the year (approx 30 degrees on average) - so it was great to get away from the cold weather in the UK. As soon as you land in Marrakech Menara airport you'll feel the warmth and humidity (so i reccomend leaveing all those big cardi's and coats behind!)

There is a taxi rank outside the airport, with plenty of drivers touting for business . They will quote tourists ridiculous prices like 150 to 250 dirhams when it should only cost around 30-40 dirhams. They will tell you that all taxi drivers charge the same, however you will find some taxi drivers will be willing to take you for less.. so refuse to pay a ridiculous amount and agree on a price before setting off. Alternatively if you walk up about 5mins from the airport you can catch buses (i think bus 11) from there which run approx every 15mins, and they go to the main market square (Jemaa el-Fna) which takes about 15-20 minutes to get to.

The airport has restaurants and cafés as well as several snack bars and bars. However the prices are very inflated at the airport. There are also several shops at the airport i.e. florist, gift shops selling local crafts items and duty-free shops selling tobacco, spirits, cosmetics, perfume and much more. The airport has currency exchange (which give good rates) and ATM machines in the arrival hall. There ate also other services available: Post services, telephones and fax machines, Wireless Internet ec.

On the whole the airport is very nice and the airport staff are very friendly and helpful. You shouldn't have any trouble as eveything is clearly sig-posted with directions and most people tend to speak English/French so no problems there.
