Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) ... five-state upper Midwestern region of Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. In terms of passengers, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is the twelfth largest in the United States (2006), and nineteenth largest airport in the world (2005). It straddles the southern border of the cities of Saint Paul, Minnesota and Minneapolis, Minnesota, but is mostly located in the Census-designated place of Fort Snelling, Minnesota. The terminal exits of the airport are minutes away from the Mall of America; careful flight pattern planning ensures that aircraft never fly over the mall at low altitude. It is a major hub for Northwest Airlines, Champion Air, Sun Country Airlines, and Northwest's Airlink partners Mesaba Airlines and Pinnacle Airlines, all of which except Pinnacle are headquartered nearby. Northwest accounts for more than 80% of the airport's passenger traffic. It is operated by the Metropolitan Airports Commission, which also handles operation of six smaller airports in the region.

There were plenty of shops to choose from and a number of restaurants from basic burgers to Italians. The airport was spotless and the toilets were clean and fresh. I'm not a fan of airports or airlines, I get motion sickness....enough said! However, I loved this airport!!! We flew in from Amsterdam (starting in Manchester), we were through immigration quickly, I'm guessing that's because most of the travellers were American so international travellers queues were empty! Once we came through imigration we had to collect our luggage, they then promptly guided us to put it on a conveyor belt that would send it to where we were going. No queue, friendly helpful staff! once into the main terminal our first stop was Chili's for some food...this is a typical American burger place, tasty food for a really ...  Read the complete review

I transited through this airport yesterday for 6 hours (July 2009). The time taken from landing to actually being inside the main terminal was fairly quick. It was very easy to find my way around - clear signs and flight information screens. There are several concourses - some of which have moving walkways to save your legs as it is quite a distance if you walk all the way around. The staff at the information desk were very helpful and pleasant. There are many shops although I did not find them that great. There are quite a few food places (TGI's, McDonalds etc). It also seemed like there were several newspaper/magazine type shops. The toilets were clean and the airport ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP): Great hub airport to transit through (248 words)

I travelled through Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport (MSP) in December 2007 and by and large I was impressed with it. There are two terminals and I used the main one, which is called the Limbergh Terminal. I have transited through many US airports over the years and some are much better than others. MSP is a good one because the gates are quite easy to access without a long walk or use of a people mover and the signs are clear. Immigration was slow however - we waited a good hour until all the US citizens were cleared and then more gates were opened for non-US citizens. The service we received from the Immigration official ...  Read the complete review
