Manila International is the most secure airport I have ever travelled through. It is the only airport I know where you cannot even get up the approach road to the airport without having your vehicle inspected by armed security. Once you get near the terminal building make sure you have a valid ticket and a passport ready or you will not get any nearer than that. Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was moved to its current site, about 7km south of the country's capital city Manila & southwest of Makati City (now the Central Business District and our second home) in 1948. The original airport serving Manila was opened in 1937 and was in what is now Makati City. Unfortunately as with all other "systems" in the Philippines, it just about works in a completely f***** way (sorry for the strong language but there are no other words strong enough to describe the poor state that it is in). I have been travelling to the Philippines with my wife and family for over 18 years to visit our in laws.This airport is soon to be updated by NAIA3 which due to financial problems has not opened in the last 3 years. If you are leaving the Philippines and have to turn up early for your flight you have to pass through endless security, which in itself is not a problem. Finding seating is a real problem as each seat is chased by 100 people.There is now no restuarants available until you proceed through departures.The only chance is the guy from Jolly B who takes your order and nearly 30 minutes later brings the food.There is nothing else catered for its just ...
