Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL)Newest Review: ... at the airport isn't so bad, there is always a band playing which is cool as you walk into passport control. The bagage area isn't very nice though and the taxis we are forced to get into are a complete rip off, like 5 times the price of normal taxis. It is a very quick reminder that you are in a terribly corrupt country when the official taxis charge so much. I have also been stopped whilest ... more |

OK I haven't been to the international airport for over a year, but then it was just how its always been, absolutly awful. I don't understand these other nicer reviews, maybe it has changed a lot. What a city, what an airport. My first introduction to the Philippines started pretty smoothly, having been warned about security in Manila, we were glad when we went to collect our baggage and had to show our baggage tags on our tickets in order to take the bags out of the airport. First tip - don't lost your baggage tag, *headache*. Manila is a pretty busy airport, and is located about 7km south of Manila city, pretty handy for a taxi ride. About 23 million passengers a year pass through Manila airport, so it's no surprise it's a bit tatty in places..! On our return trip, we decided to spend the night sleeping in the airport because we had an early flight. ... Read the complete review

It is the only airport I know where you cannot even get up the approach road to the airport without having your vehicle inspected by armed security. Once you get near the terminal building make sure you have a valid ticket and a passport ready or you will not get any nearer than that. During the dry season baggage is scanned right at the entrance to the terminal building. During the rainy season, as a small concession to the weather, you are allowed to queue undercover while your bags are scanned. I don't object to the 8 or 9 different security checks that I ... Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was moved to its current site, about 7km south of the country's capital city Manila & southwest of Makati City (now the Central Business District and our second home) in 1948. The original airport serving Manila was opened in 1937 and was in what is now Makati City. Unfortunately as with all other "systems" in the Philippines, it just about works in a completely f***** way (sorry for the strong language but there are no other words strong enough to describe the poor state that it is in). Nonoy Aquino (NAIA) was originally called Manila International Airport, but was renamed after the EDSA Revolution ... Read the complete review

I have been travelling to the Philippines with my wife and family for over 18 years to visit our in laws. This airport is soon to be updated by NAIA3 which due to financial problems has not opened in the last 3 years. If you are leaving the Philippines and have to turn up early for your flight you have to pass through endless security, which in itself is not a problem. Finding seating is a real problem as each seat is chased by 100 people. There is now no restuarants available until you proceed through departures. The only chance is the guy from Jolly B who takes your order and nearly 30 minutes later brings the food. There is nothing else catered for its just ...
