Advantages: small airport so not much walking around like in larger airports
Disadvantages: heat can get to you when you arrive/ Luggage charges for overweight on return
Airport Code : PUJ
Airport Name : Punta Cana International
Runway Length : 10171 ft.
City : Higuey
Country : Dominican Republic
When i first arrived at this airport the first thing that I noticed was the heat, it was an unusual dry heat, something I expect many people may not have experienced before so i recommend anyone travelling here to make sure they have something to drink whilst waiting to go through check ins etc. I suggest you buy an extra bottle of water from in flight attendants ready for when you arrive at the airport. Also maybe apply some sun protection cream to exposed skin as the sun can burn you in a very short space of time. It took us about an hour after landing to leave the airport and head towards resort, we stayed at the cocotal/tropical suites which is around an hours drive, which is an experience of its own (the drive). There are quite a few pleasant people ready to meet and greet you as are going through the airport, singing and dancing with maracas and straw skirts, again a slightly strange experience if you've never been before. You get the usual people asking if you need a hand with your bags or luggage as you leave airport and head towards coach. normally a tip would be expected if you allow someone to assist you, only a dollar or 2 however you can simply say no and carry your own bags. There is hardly anything at the arrivals to be honest however the return journey was much better, it has all the usual duty free shops, places to get a bite to eat etc. Also do not forget to know your luggage weight limits, they do not weigh your hand luggage so you can get away with putting extra into that if you think you are overweight. Going over your weight limit can be costly so bear this in mind. Also don't worry if you can't see your rep as they are made to wait outside.
Summary: A nice pleasant small airport

- 16/06/09 Content is not enough for a review on an airport, however small. You also need to work on your review presentation. Writing your review in Microsoft Word before posting it in the dooyoo review block, will also be helpful in ironing out some spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. You have the potential to write very good reviews; just keep at it, and in the meantime . . . read as many reviews as you can that have earned in excess of 70 VU ratings. |
