Southampton Airport is Situated only 1 mile from Eastleigh town centre, and adjacent to both junction 5 of the M27 and Southampton Parkway rail station. This is a great little Airport and after flying out of Southampton on a number of occasions I would thoroughly recommended this relaxing start to your journey. Check in and security checks take no longer than five minutes and because it is such a small airport it is only a short walk to the departure lounge. Before the security and check in area there are a couple of places to eat and shop, Aura where you can purchase Starbucks coffee, Delice de France pastries, 'Grab n Go' sandwiches, baguettes and panini. Living, as I do, outside the M25 south-west of London, my choices when flying would appear to focus naturally on either Heathrow or Gatwick. However, neither really enthuse me. I find the whole exercise extremely wearing using either airport, particularly the hassles of parking there although for long stays at Gatwick, Tudor Rose is the preferred, reasonably priced and reliable guardian of my beloved MG. However, although Heathrow is closest, the flight I was looking for, to Leeds/Bradford, wasn't available at anything like what I would have considered a reasonable price.
