Canon Pixma MP190
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, everything you need all in one
Disadvantages: Expensive ink, no USB cable suppliedf
We we're looking for a cheapish printer for printing out various documents. I actually researched it quite a lot, as a lot of printers were really cheap - but had nasty reports of the ink running out straight away, and paying more the ink than they did for the printer itself! An whilst the Canon replacement inks for this printer arent cheap (upwards of £15.00 from what I gather!) the ink has lasted quite a while so far, and just hoping it stays the same!
We don't use it for intense colour photo printing though I might add. I've been fairly conservative, but full colour documents, posters and the like - breezed through.
The printer is satisfyingly speedy when it comes to printing aswell. I've seen older machines chug away like an old steam train before producing less than desireable results - not with the MP190! Whilst it isnt the quietest of the bunch, it id definitley effecient - the colour print speed reaches 15 pages per minute, with the mono print speed reaching a very useful 19 pages per minute - good when you're in a rush.
I've been impressed by the quality for such a relatively cheap purchase. I purchased the all-in-one from our local argos for just shy of £50.00 - and the scanning and copying functions (more notably the scanning) has proved its worth already.
The only real pitfall is you have to shell out an extra £3 for a USB cable as one doesnt come supplied. Other than that it works good, looks great, mutli functional and really quite cheap - would recommend to anybody.
Summary: Multifunctional, easy to use and produces great results.
