Very unhappy with quality of prints and printer (Canon Pixma MP600)

I was very unhappy with this printer. I am an architecture student so therefore need a high quality printer for my images. I bought this printer and because it was very expensive and apparently highly rated I thought I could rely on it. I have many issues with this printer and they include: initially VERY expensive printing ink. The printing ink runs out very quickly and needs to be replaced often so in the long term you are spending more money on the printing. The printer is quite slow and also I found that it produced very streaky images. It is extremely easy to drop things down the paper feed, and this has resulted in many blockages. I think that the paper feed should be horizontal rather than vertical to prevent this from happening. And the MOST annoying thing about this printer is that the scanner only works if you have ink in all the cartridges which is ridiculous. I was most unhappy about this because I bought a new printer and hoped to still use the scanner however, because one of my cartridges had run out, it would not allow me to scan. After researching this I found out that many people experienced the same problem and other similar problems. It is definitely not worth buying.

Summary: think before you buy this printer
