excellent printer, best around (Canon Pixma MP610)

Canon have done an amazing job with this photo inkjet printer.
First of all, it's not just a printer. It works as a perfect photo quality printer, scanner and photocopier.

First off, the printing. It consists of five different inks cartridges, i've had this printer since christmas and have printer alot of A4 photos for my photography course at college, the photos come out perfect and are definately helping towards the A-Grade i'm hoping for. The two black ink levels are still full, and the three colours on 4 out of 5 bars, and for the amount of photos i've printed, is very, very good.
The scanner is of a beautiful quality. I've scanned in old photos, and they've come out very very well, and when scanned they're scanned bigger, so enlarging your old photos to A4 is no problem. I've also scanned in drawings and have then edited them for tshirt designs etc. I'm a designer, and for me to use printer/scanner at such a low price, it must be good.

The photo copying is fast and efficient, you can select whether you want fast copies, which will obviously not be as good quality, but then in if you want to make a quick copy of a photo or detailed image, you can put the photocopier on to a photo quality setting, which i must add, isn't slow like most other printers.
Printing a A4 photo of a high resolution using a top of the range digital SLR camera, takes about 30 to 40 seconds, and if using quality photopaper drys instantly.
The printer can connect to your pc simply by using a usb cable, which wasn't supplied when i bought this product, but thankfully had a spare usb cable that i could use. Although, you don't need to connect it to your pc! The printer has a usb port for attaching it to your camera, and a memory card reader built in, so you can insert your photos straight in and preview them on the high quality lcd screen, which is nicely built in to the printer. The memory card slot also acts as a reader and you can transfer images straight from your card incase you don't have a usb cable for your camera, or a memory card reader for your pc.

Another excellent thing about this printer, is no more swapping paper around, and no more jamming up! There is two paper trays in this printer, the cassette tray at the bottom where I choose to keep my plain a4 paper, this is what programs such as microsoft word, internet pages etc use when told to print without changing any settings, and then theres the rear tray which is always close on my printer, unless i'm going to print out some photos, in which case you just fold it open, and away you go. No more jamming up either, because if your printer is on a network, this happened quite alot in my house when we had the old printer, when you print from upstairs off your laptop or whatever, you go down to collect your printed document to realise the front tray wasnt open, and the papers all screwed up in between the rollers in your printer, but say goodbye to that, when asked to print, the printer does a automatic check to see if this tray is open, and if it isn't, will automatically open it for you.
This printer also prints on white cd's/dvd's, but i have yet to try this, but i'm sure it will be as amazing as the rest of the printer.

The printer is of a quite bulky size, but it looks really nice and is very modern. It's a strong build and feels very sturdy, but now I have a Canon printer, I don't think i'm ever going to change again, and Epson is long out the window from now on.
Best printer i've seen in a long time. Recommend it greatly!

Summary: can't get a better printer than this, it's a good price and the quality is perfect!
