Advantages: Very Capable, Scanner, Printer, Copier, Reliable, Quality

Disadvantages: The Design, Not Very Available (Old)

After having this printer for a long time, it is still going strong and hasn't failed to impress me, Not only is it a printer but it also has other features such as the ability to scan and copy. It is of great quality, very easy to use and fits nicely on any desk.

The machine is quite large and grey as it's not the newest machine. The bottom bit is light grey and the top has a darker grey lid, which opens up to reveal the glass for the scanner. There is a tray on the front at the bottom, which is where copies or printed pages will come out. You can extend a bit of plastic here so your paper will be loaded onto the tray and not fall out onto the floor. The printer doesn't shoot it out but simply places it on the tray to be taken.

There is a hole round the side of the printer as you can lift up the top half to refill the cartridges. The cartridges are widely available from almost anywhere but aren't exactly cheap like all ink cartridges. This printer takes both black and coloured cartridges for use.

There is a small screen with buttons just above this gap. The screen has writing that goes across the screen, which can easily be read. It explains how to use the printer and what to do. The buttons are very simple too. There is a large green one, which is used to colour copy or as a 'select' button. There is a red stop button, to stop the process. There is also a large grey button beside the green one, which is used for black and white copies.

There are other buttons to scroll the menus and adjust the values of copies. The on button is to the left with a standby symbol. It must be held for a couple of seconds to switch it on and off. There is also a scan button. It's not complicated and you are literally required to press these buttons just once to carry out a function. The buttons are all rubber so you can easily press them down.

The printer can print black and white pages very quickly but colour ones take a lot longer. You can adjust the quality on your computer and if you're printing photos, you can improve the quality but it will take a lot longer. The scanner works very well too. It scans the image to my Mac and then I must crop the image on the computer before scanning it again and saving it.

Overall, it's a really useful machine and has many functions. It doesn't look great but is very easy to use and serves well. It is very reliable and of great quality as I have had it for years now and it's still working very well. It cost me under £100 a few years back, but I imagine you can get a used one today for nearer £20. I would recommend it, as it's very capable, easy to use and reliable.

Thanks for reading,

Dan ©

Summary: A superb machine, which functions excellently and can be used with ease

Every Epson I've owned, the ink has dried up and I got lines in my printing. I'll never buy one again. Good review.
