Advantages: Competent, Reliable, Affordable

Disadvantages: Scanning is Slow

I've been using this printer for at least six months, maybe more. I bought it when I was looking for new ink cartridges for my old printer in the supermarket one day and noticed that it was only an extra £10 to get the cartridges along with a brand new printer! That's got to be worth my while I thought and bought this home with me.

I found it really easy to set up and I can still remember now that this was the quickest printer installation I've ever gone through. I think that's partly down to modern operating systems and that plug and play capability they have though. I found it was a straightforward case of plugging it in to the power, connecting it with a USB lead to the computer (not included of course) and then following the on screen instructions to get it installed.

This all in one includes a scanner, a colour printer and a copier so it's good for most general basic home office needs. The printing has always been good quality and I'm generally very pleased with the print speed too. I can rattle off a draft quality letter in a few seconds or I can be patient for a best quality photo to take a few minutes to print.

The downside to this is that the scanner and copier facilities are quite slow. The copying isn't too bad and takes about two minutes to copy then print off a standard letter or picture, but the scanner is a bit painful. I've waited up to five minutes for it to go through the motions and upload the image onto the screen before.

Amazon have this for £65 which I think is too much but other places have it for £30 - £40 which makes this an excellent budget printer. We're now thinking of upgrading because of all the family photos we'd like to print off but we'll definetely still keep this as a spare. If you just print off a few photos and letters a month and want something that can take scans or copies in rare cases then this is excellent value for money. If you're needs are more frequent then I suggest looking to spend a few more quid on something faster.

Summary: Recommended on a Budget

5 minutes for scanning seems a very long time to wait.
