Advantages: Cheap; Does the Job Well

Disadvantages: Loud; Slowish; Ink-block!

The printer itself is a brilliant buy for the price tag of £35. It suits the need of a household printer and also does good quality photos and has handy quick touch photocopy buttons. Also it benefits from a very simple scanner.

It is relatively slow and quite noisy but personally this doesn't bother me at all. What is annoying is Epson's ink strategy! - You cannot use certain compatible cartridges due to the microchips used as Epson is trying to force you to use their branded cartridges. I have however found that the Tesco Compatible Cartridges work fine and cost around £5.

I have not had any mechanical problems with the printer and have used it a lot. In fact the only difficulty arises from certain ink cartridges - as I said, stick to Tesco or Epson and you should be fine.

For a 3 in one ink-jet that is so cheap and has cheap individual cartridges I would definitely recommend the Epson Stylus DX4450! If you print in volume, I would opt for something else.

Summary: A brilliant buy for a home user!
