I haven't had many printers so can't really compare it to others so just going on what I think of this particular one. It is a multi printer, so copies and scans to. These options also have the facility of choosing black and white or colour, so no ink is wasted if you only need black and white, but likewise you can copy a document in colour if you need to.

The set up is really easy and straightforward and so are the settings when you are using it. The menus are very clear and it is easy to navigate your way around until you find what you need. Still, their are not too many options, which is good when you need a fairly decent printer for the basics.

The ink dries quickly after printing which is great if you are printing multiple pages, and it is quite fast especially on simple word documents. The other good facility is it allows you to print double sided, waiting for you to turn the page over mid document rather than running ahead.

Copying in scanning are also very good quality, and the basic software for scanning is good for what it is. You can select document type, quality of the scan, and a few extra options, eg colour restoration or dust removal for old photos.

The only thing I would warn about though is that it isn't very good for printing photos. The print head needs to be cleaned regularly otherwise phots end up with lines through them. And as the ink is quite heavy, every photo paper I have used hasn't worked as it just goes really dark.

The other main draw back is the price of ink. Although the printer is decent, it is annoying when ink costs £40 a pop for the four different colours. Although at least you change each colour when it runs out, so nothing is wasted, rather than changing the whole block.
