Advantages: Brilliant quality prints, print photos straight from memory stick
Disadvantages: breaks down everytime, very bulky design
I originally had another Epson printer in the CX series but unfortunately it broke town so I got a replacement printer but decided to pay a little extra and get this printer.
Altogether I paid £180 with insurance. From the looks of the printer it looked really sophisticated and difficult to use, but I got a helper who was wandering around and he explained it all to me. It turned out that it was really simple. In the end I took it home and set it up.
The bad thing was that the printer is really bulky and it's difficult to arrange on my desk, but I got it in, in the end. I tried printing some pictures out and the quality was superb like the box said. Every single detail was captured and the colour quality is brilliant. I also tried photocopying as well as scanning and they too turned out really well.
The best thing about this printer is that it can print photos on glossy paper straight from a memory stick or CD, isn't that useful. You just insert them in they're port on the front and follow the instructions that come up on the 3 inch screen. The printer comes with a packet of glossy paper standard size.
Another brilliant thing about the printer is that it uses separate ink cartridges. Normally ink are split into black & white and colour, but in this is split into Black, yellow, light cyan, light magenta, magenta and cyan. This is really useful because before if one colour finished you had to change the whole cartridge but with this you only have to change the cartridge that finished. Ink cost around £36 which is a lot better than the other ink prices on the market.
Unfortunately, in the time of only 6 months the printer has broken down twice which is awful. I wouldn't expect that from an Epson printer. I had to take it to an Epson shop so they fix it for me.
Overall, this is a brilliant printer, which produces brilliant prints but I wouldn't recommend people to buy this as it isn't reliable and might break down in those desperate minutes like it did to me.
Summary: a good printer with wide range of features but very unreliable

- 09/10/07 Unfortunately, since this machine doesn't have a fax, it is in the wrong category. I'll try to get it moved for you. |

- 08/10/07 WOW my last Epson lasted me 5 years and it was a freebie with my previous PC and my current Epson cost me £50 well over a year ago and I've had no problems with it all. I guess it's a case of hit and miss with some of these printers.. :) |
