Epson Stylus SX425W
Advantages: Printer, scanner, copier all in one
Disadvantages: Paper jams a lot
We got this about 4 months ago now from PC World after our last Epsom printer packed in. We don't really use a printer that much in our household but it's nice to have one just in case for printing out any online bookings or money off coupons. We decided on the Epsom Stylus SX425W because it had everything we needed all in one and is a brand we know and are used to.
It's very easy to set up, you can either connect with a USB cable or wirelessly. I've connected via USB. It comes with an installation cd so all you do is connect it up, pop the cd into the cd drawer on your computer and follow the on screen set up guide.
As I said before this is an all in one printer. You can make photocopies on this which we've used a few times now. It comes in handy when you need to send off documentation as proof when applying for things. We just simple make a quick photocopy and send that off with the application. Photocopying is very very easy with this printer, you just place your document in face down, close the lid and press the button once and your photocopy pops out withing seconds!!!
It has a scanner which I have used so many time now I can't count. It's such a handy feature for allsorts of uses. I've used it to scan and email documents rather than posting them. I did this for my no claims bonus when I changed over my car insurance. They wanted my no claims proof so I simply scanned it and emailed it to them and they confirmed they had it that day!! I also like to scan old photos and get them printed. An old friend who I knew as a child gave me some pictures of my sisters and I as children and I was able to scan them onto the computer to put them onto Facebook plus make copies of them for my sisters.
The printing quality of this is very good compared to our last printer, no smudging or bleeding colours and nice and clean and crisp. The only drawback is that the paper gets jammed almost every time we go to print!!! We have to take the paper out and pop it back in again most time which is very annoying.
The manual included shows which buttons to press for whatever function you want plus the buttons are labelled on the actual printer.
It's no longer available in PC World but a quick check online showed it's available to buy on Amazon for £44.99 delivered free in the UK. We paid £50 in PC World.
All in all this is a great all in one printer for the price but I've knocked off a star because the paper jams all the time.
Below I have copied and pasted the specs for this printer so you don't have to go hunting about for them. Thesse were taken from www.amazon.co.uk
