HP Deskjet 1050
Advantages: Quick print and ease of use.
Disadvantages: price of ink
I bought this printer after my last one broke it was a Kodak and quite reliable till it finally gave out on me about nine months ago. The HP I bought from amazon for £35 which included two full ink cartridges.
Installation went without problem thanks to the CD supplied meaning I didn't really need to do anything apart from plug in the cable supplied and press next every couple minutes. Even when I changed computer this nifty little printer went online and found it's driver for me as HP knowing it's customer base well realized I would lose the disk pretty quickly.
Printing is so easy just a ctrl P and quick print works a treat every time, there is more complicated options and you can change things till even the most fussy user is happy but I will leave that for the user manual.
Scanning quality is not the best but does do what I need so there are no complaints for me, just something to keep in mind if you are thinking of buying this for non digital photos. It seems as though it should be much better with a 24bit colour depth and 1200 dpi optical resolution so maybe I am doing something wrong here just my experience.
I get a lot of prints from each cartridge as the HP is very economical with ink while still giving me quality copies. ( Ink is about £20 a cartridge so it really needs too.) I would prefer to have 3 separate colour cartridges as I do seem to print much more blue than red and seem to be throwing half the red away.
Summary: A beauty of a budget printer just be careful of ink cost.
