Advantages: Takes up less room than having separate products

Disadvantages: its a bit bulky

This is an all in one, it is a bit bulky but considering you wont need an extra scanner makes up for this, set up for this is easy and so is using. For the price of this machine you get good value, works well and gives great results.

In the box theres a whole load of things, first is the deskjet printer with the power cable, also supplied is a USB cable, unlike my last printer which I needed to buy an extra cable, a setup disc which also contains user software, two inks cartriges, one black and one colour, and a nice big bag, this bag is not bad quality with a shoulder strap, this holds the printer and is good for carrying or just for storing as a dust protector, setup handbook and user guide this covers 8 languages.

Getting started takes a while, to start all the flaps are stuck down with tape keeping them secure while in transit, once this is done plug in the power and fallow the setup handbook, there was two handbooks one in English, the other in 4 differant languages. Apart from the text there are images for all the processes, the booklet is very clean and easy to follow.

Connecting to PC/laptop this can be done in two ways, If you have WiFi this is the best way and straight forward, this means the printer can be in another room, this is a plus for me as I can keep my living room uncluttered, the other way is to use the USB cable suplied, this is quite short so the printer will need to be right next to your computer, this is also straight forward to set up.

On the Printer theres a control panel, this has on/off, cancel, quickforms, scan, wireless, and selection buttons, also on the control panel is a 3.8cm mono LCD screen most of the time the on and off button is all that is needed as printing and scanning is done with your computer, making photo copys can be done using this panel as no PC is required for this.

This printer is compatable with windows vista, windows XP and windows 7, this is also compatable with a MAC OS x 10.5 and 10.6.

The user guide is only 8 pages so not too great, also does not have a card reader but this is reflected in the price, replacement ink is about average and will give you about 190 pages using the black and 165 using the colour, this depends on what is getting printed and is just a guide figure.

All three functions work really well producing great results, unlike my last printer there is no need to realign every time it gets used, the only time I have had to do realignment was when putting in a new ink cartrige, these are widely available as HP is a major brand.

Summary: Good results with good reliability
