Advantages: Print and scan quality excellent
Disadvantages: Price of ink and it's tendancy to just not work at random
I bought this for £25, which I thought was good value for a printer and scanner.
It's not a bad size considering what it does, and if it was any smaller you'd have trouble getting a scanner on top.
In the box was the printer, a black in, a colour ink, instructions and set up CD. You will notice from that list there is no USB cable, which is a pain if you haven't got one in the house, but I did.
So I put in the set up disk, click through some screens, and waited while it went to install, and then waited and waited and waited. This must be a lot of bloated software it took about 15 minutes to install it on my pretty decent PC.
Once it finally finished installing, it wouldn't "see" the printer at this point I gave up on the install disk, and installed the driver via device manager. Once installed I run a few print offs and was impressed with the quality, even an A4 size photo (on normal paper) come out at a high standard.
The scanning was also excellent, I didn't try the text conversion software, but scans of documents and pictures picked up every detail.
The down side of this printer, once in a while it simply loses sight of the PC, it shows as installed, but nothing prints to it, I have updated drivers and this doesn't solve the issue.
Also HP ink is honestly one of the most expensive liquids in the world.
Summary: An ok printer the cost of ink is always worth baring in mind.
