Advantages: wireless capability, price, all in one capability
Disadvantages: nothing major
This printer was the one I chose after the old one I had from Dell decided not to work anymore. The HP Deskjet F4580 All-in-One Printer is a good value printer and is available for around £50. It is actually listed for a bit lower than this currently on Amazon. I got this from PC World a few months ago and it was around the £50 mark which I thought was a good price for a HP all in one printer which also had wireless capability.
The printer itself
This is a 3 in 1 Printer so it is a Copier and Scanner as well. It is great for the home as well as low level office type use. In the box with the printer you also get a HP 300 Black Ink Cartridge, HP 300 Tri-colour Ink Cartridge, USB cable, HP software CD, setup and reference guide, power supply and cord. The ink cartridges I found were half filled ones so it is probably required to also buy at least another black cartridge which I also did buy when getting the printer. This printer is pretty easy to set up. There are quite clear instructions once you insert the CD. The instruction manual is quite hard to navigate through as it is in a number of different languages and it is difficult to find what you need in there quickly so it was better to just use the CD. If you want to set it up wirelessly you do this by linking it to your router and this is relatively straightforward. There is also the option of connecting by USB cable as well. It is capable of printing and copying at up to 28ppm in black or 22ppm in colour in draft but would be slower at higher quality levels obviously. It can also be used as a photo printer but I am yet to use it for any real photo printing as of yet. The design is not spectacular but is good for the price with the black colour which may be plain but it is certainly very functional. Ink cartridges are easy to slot in and printing is efficient also. The printer is also energy star qualified and is described as being made from 20% recycled plastic.
This is a very good printer for the price. There are sometimes some issues with wireless connectivity but it is generally very efficient. It is easy to setup and use. The printer is made by a reputable and well known company in HP. Overall a good cheap, wireless printer and recommended.
