Advantages: multipurpose, good quality, copies without computer
Disadvantages: scanning can be slow, big "align cartridge" bug
This is a really good quality printer and I love the fact that it's multipurpose. It both scans to and prints from the computer and you can use it as a photocopier as well, a feature which works even when it's not connected to the computer or if the computer's switched off.
I've had no problems with the quality and I like the fact that you can choose different quality settings when copying and also select colour or black&white copy (of course you can do this with the printer too but you can with most printers).
The scanning can be slow, but that might well be linked to my computer, which is known to be slow at times (only 512MB RAM) so that might be fine for you. Also I often need to scan at higher resolutions.
One really annoying problem I have had recently is that whenever I install a new print cartridge (or even change to and from the photo cartridge) it wants to "align the cartridge". This wouldn't be a problem except that when I put the test sheet into the scanner, following the instructions, it doesn't scan properly to align the cartridge. Sometimes it doesn't work at all and other times it scans as a separate document.
This basically means that whenever I connect the computer to the printer I get the "align cartridge" popup (and I connect and disconnect fairly regularly as I have a laptop) and, worse, whenever the printer is switched off/on and whenever a cartridge is put in, it prints a new test sheet - wasting my paper, time and ink. I'm even more annoyed because it did this recently after I had installed a photo cartridge, wasting a whole sheet of expensive photo paper.
Summary: one big annoyance, everything else fine
