This printer has been an absolute lifesaver throughout my degree. As I near the end of my studies I will review the most reliable piece of electrical equipment in my life. This printer originally cost around £35 when I bought my desktop computer 3 years ago. I chose it because it was on special offer, and had a scanner inside it as well. The scanner is brilliant, there dont seem to be any scanners for music students, so I and many other students have used this great feature in my printer. This gets the job done, and thats all you can ask. Be aware, though, that actually buying the Cartidges can be a little stressful, either because the numbers are popular (17/27, I believe) or the places that SHOULD stock them, well, dont. Typically, the packaged cartidges, colour and black together, price at around the £32 mark, which is quite expensive, but I could recommend that you get a professional refiller to do it for around £7 each, if you still have the old cartridges. I brought this all - in - one scanner a few months ago, this is the second lexmark I have brought, the other was about 6 years ago, and that was a great printer, which I had no problems with lasted me a long time. If you find space a problem, then here is the solution for that tight computer space, the Lexmark X1270 is the answer, it has got two seperate lids, one for the scanner and the other for access to the ink cartridges, the lid for the ink compartment lifts onto a hinge, which means you dont have to fight with it to get the cartridges in.
