Its possible these days to get printers that are really cheap, cheaper infact than the ink that goes in them itself. And this is another one like that.
So here is a fantastic printer, made by Lexmark, who make and specialise in designing and making quality printers. Its does a lot of things and even has some capabilities built it that for a printer coming in at just £35 you totally wouldn't expect.
The printer is cheaper than some of their usual models, and it perhaps doesn't look quite as good. There's no glossy white or black finish like on their more stylish models and it does appear quick big and bulky. I think that they could have probably cut down a bit on the size as some appears just as waste.
The buttons or rather lack of buttons on this printer could be looked at as a bad thing. However when I use a printer I tend to control all the settings off my pc anyway so I suppose it doesn't matter that much.
The three buttons that are included on this printer are the power button, the paper feed button, and the button for double sided printing. Yes, that's right double sided printing. This is defiantly a must have nowadays, as it can save a lot of time, and a lot of paper. This is something that I really do use a lot and its great if you're a company that needs to produce documents with work, then maybe your business logo on the back off the document, well all this and lots more can be achieved with this printer.
This even has capability for direct photo printing, this means you can connect your sd cards from your cameras or even connect a camera via USB, to the printer and print off your camera directly without the use of a computer. This is a great facility as it can save a lot of time and effort when printing photos. The only draw back though is the capability to see the photos on a built in screen in the printer which would have been nice to see added.
The built in scanner can do scanning to the computer, or it can even do stand alone scanning, at the touch of a button, and it really is that easy.
It great when you don't have to power up your computer before scanning something as it saves so much time, and I hardly even scan something to my printer, I always just print it straight off.
The printing speeds are alright is your not used to anything amazingly fast and for printing off the odd thing you'll not think its slow. The print quality is also pretty good although words come out crisp, image printing could still be improved.
Altogether it's a very good printer for its price, if you don't have much workspace then id get something a little more compact however if you need something cheap, that does the job then this is the one for you.
I have purchased two of these printers, three month apart. The nice thing about this printer is it only requires one ink cartridge. The cost around $20.00 US dollars. The black isn't dark enough, even if you darken it, it becomes burred. Next, once you change the cartridge the printer read COVER OPEN. Then the printer doesn't work. You can't even turn the printer off. No matter what you do it says, COVER OPEN. I've exchange one for this problem only to find out now know matter how many X3470's I get, once I change the ink cartridge, The printer reads COVER OPEN.WITHOUT A WORKING PRINTER
