Advantages: All-in-one unit, Excellent quality scan & print, Fantastically cheap!

Disadvantages: No fax facilities, Could be a little smaller, A little flimsy perhaps

I recently purchased a Lexmark X80 from Aldi - it is a reboxed version of the X83 - basically the same from what I can tell - same features, and specs, just a cheaper price for a selected few retail outlets. It even installs the X83 software & drivers!

It has 1200dpi scanning, and takes both black and colour ink simultaneously to make cost effective printing, and to save you having to keep switching cartriges.

It is supplied with colour & black cartridges, a comprehensive array of manuals, and connects to the USB port of your PC with the supplied cable.

Replacement cartridges are available from PC World, or you can pick them up cheap on ebay.

Anyway, I have had it a few weeks now, and it is an absolute joy to use. It only cost £89.99 to buy, yet has a good spec scanner, and an excellent colour inkjet printer. It has an LCD diaplay, and a menu system which is simplicity itself to operate. It can produce black & white or colour photocopies without the need to switch on the computer, and I have to say that no matter what you use it for, the quality of scan & print is remarkably good for a unit of this price.

It has not suffered from any paper jams or misaligned ink, or print heads, and I have had no reason to contact their support team. I would say however, that it is a home user solution, and is probably not up to the job of a high volume office printer/scanner.

It saves a lot of space and money between a seperate printer & scanner! It's not the most solid of construction, but for £90, what do you want!
