War, What is it good for? Games like this! (Cannon Fodder 2)

Cannon fodder 2 is (Suprisingly!) The sequal to Cannon Fodder 1. So if you've played CF1 then expect a lot more of the same, If you've not then id better get my fingers out and write a bit about the game.

I was reminded of this game a few days ago by playing command and conquer Red Alert, Some of the levels on the later Westwood game reminded me of this classic.

Released back in the olden days (1994) by Sensible software (The great people behind Sensible soccer), This game was a bit different from most/all the other games available at the time. It was a Action/Real time stratagy/war game, But mostly it was just an action packed fun game that you could play for an hour at a time and enjoy.

Cannon Fodder 1 was released about a year or two before this and is almost the same game with different levels.

GAMEPLAY

The main premise of this game is that you are a group of soldiers that have been abducted by aliens, These aliens basically send you to lots of battles during time.
The game is veiwed from above the players and you basically click on the area that you want your troops to move to, And if there are any enemys then you right click to shoot at them, The controls are very simple and keep you active throughout the game.
As I stated earlier, this game reminds me of command and conquer, Its kind of like a real time stratagy game without all of the building/Recruiting etc. Its like the action bits of C&C.
The game begins quite easily and you will think that your quite good at it, and then it will suddenly get a lot harder. This makes the game more replayable (Made up word?!?).
At the start of the game you are given a group of soldiers, These are added to each time you win a mission, But one of the best feelings is when you've got really far into the game with the same four soldiers.

GRAPHICS

If you've played Sensible soccer or Cannon Fodder 1, then you
will know that Sensible software didnt really care for flashy graphics, Again they are just small sprites on a fairly nice background. They do not distract from the main game and are just good enough to keep you interested.

OVERALL
-------

This game would make a nice cheap buy (If you can find it), Otherwise there are some sites that offer it for download, Obviously im not gonna tell you where to look as i would never think of using such sites!!!!
One problem though is that the game doesnt seem to like modern Pc's and might not run very well, But this can be sorted with a slow down utility which can be downloaded all over the net.
