Advantages: great games

Disadvantages: confusing

Before I start writing about this, I have to say that I am watching the England and Germany game at the same time, so if my English goes down the pan then you know why. And if the result turns out good I don’t think I will be able to finish this opinion. Only joking.
Right basically I want to talk about the game industry in general, I think that it is getting really interesting, but in a way I think it might be getting too interesting.
Going back a few years ago I was reading in a magazine that the dream cast is going to blow the play station and the Nintendo 64 away.
The months come closer to the release date, and I was quite interested in the system.
But a few weeks before the dream cast system come to England, I read in a magazine that Sony are to release a new system called hmmm the play station 2.
I could not believe it the same magazine was saying that the PS2 is a real good machine and will be THE console for the future.
After reading the article I was really confuse, mainly because I was ready to splash some cash, and buy the new Sega console, Then you have nearly most of the computer magazines saying that the PS2 is going to be great.
I was really confused.
I had two options: the first one was to buy the Dream cast, or wait a whole year and buy the New Sony system.
Christmas came I did not know what to do. In the end I bought the dream cast along with soul calibur. And I was really pleased and it did live up to what people said I would.
I bought loads of games for the system, and I really thought that it would be as popular as the play station.
But I was wrong, hardly any of my friends have a dream cast, and I started to think that it would die really quickly.
By view is that the public “consumer” is the most important aspect of the console wars, if the public loves the system, and everyone has one.
Then the system will do well. Many people will agree that the dream cast is a great
system and has a good range of games.
But when you think about it I thought it would of done better. Wow look at the way I am talking about the dream cast. It’s no way dead.
Anyway let me get back on track otherwise I will get losted.
Months down the line Sega dropped the price of the system and then decided to also drop the prices of the games.
I was definitely convinced that the system was going to die out quicker than what I expected.
About a month after the prices of the Sega system dropped.
The PS2 was released, it did not really impress me, and none of my friends had one.
I did play on one, and thought it was ok. I played tekken tag, and compared to soul calibur there was not that much difference.
But what really pushed me away from the new Sony system was the huge price tag, I could think of better ways of spending 300 pounds.
Cut the chase the main point of the opinion.
A few months after the PS2 system arrived Nintendo announced they are going to release a new console called the game cube, and along with the game cube, they were planning to release a new game boy, called the game boy advance.
I was quite impressed with the game cube and the game boy, and thought about getting one when they both come out.
After setting my eyes on the game cube, guess what Microsoft come alone and said they want to have a go at the console war.
And produce a new console of there own.
I started to think this is getting really crazy.
Microsoft was boasting they have created one of the best consoles around and about 5 times faster than the PS2.
Now today I have no idea about what console to purchase, I love consoles and think it is good to have some competition in the ranks.
But I am not made of money and cant go and buy every console that comes out. That’s just crazy.
I am sure many of you people who love consoles feel the same. CONFUSED. And don’t know which one to purchase.

To me around 300 quid Is a lot of money.
How much do you want to bet a few weeks before the xbox is released Sony will come along and announce they plan to bring out a console next year, bigger and better?
I don’t want to spend all my hard earn cash, on a console that will only last a few years.
Look at the original play station, how many years has that been going, about 6.
It’s something that is getting crazy.
And will get even worse if another company decide to produce a console.
I have to say that the gaming industry is becoming a very expensive hobby.

I would be very pleased to hear from you, about this kind of problem.
I know what I might do, not buy any of them and stick with my PC, Dream cast and GBA

I agree, there are too many consoles coming out. However, the Playstation 2 doesn't really appeal to me, all the games seem to be rehashes with smarter grafix. Yawn. And Microsoft's Xbox is already being touted as a flop. Build 'em up, knock 'em down.

I will just get a Gamecube, Nintendo games are usually always class and I played more on my N64, while my PS gathered dust.

Nintendo always seem to be the most "old skool", with plenty of rewarding gameplay without relying on hype and trashy gimmiks.

Good op, but the formatting has gone a bit squiffy. Let me know if you fix it and I'll update the rate.
