Before i got this game, i had to practically lick my cousins feet who is in USA to send me the CD. So this is a emotional review ( hee hee)

Diablo 2 comes with 3 cds. A play disc, install disc and a cinematics disc. The install of this game is rather large, 900mb minimum for multiplayer, 600mb minimum for single player.

The game consists of 4 acts. Each of the acts has several quests which you must complete in order to move on to the next act. You receive a reward upon completing each quest. Each act takes place in a totally different town. For example, the first act takes place around the rogue camp, once you complete all six quests you move into a desert town, which has six more quests. Each quests takes you to a new sub area within the larger area.

The game world is not like the original Diablo. There are many ''wilderness'' areas you travel through in order to get to a specific quest area. For instance, the first quest requires you find the Den of Evil which is located somewhere in the blood moore. Each wilderness area is connected to another more difficult wilderness area that will contain another quest area. Rather than just having one town with short cuts to various quest areas, you must travel through the wilderness fighting as you go.

There are 5 classes. The Barbarian is full of weak skills, yet he is the easiest to start playing with due to his extraordinary strength. A voluptuous sorceress can throw fireballs before you have time to say 'ouch'. And than there is the Amazon, same as the archer from the first. The additional 2 classes are Necromancer (my favorite) and the Paladin. Paladin is a cross between a holy magic user and a fighter, with the Necro being a raiser of the dead. He works almost like a Conjurer -- ruling dude. Necromancer himself was enough to be worth a whole new game. I couldn't care much about the Amazon or the Barbarian, but every other class bec
kons me to finish the game with them.

The Story

After the hero from Diablo 1 defeated diablo there was a celebration in Tristram that lasted several days. After a few months our hero became withdrawn and stopped talking to everyone. Then one day he left and started travelling east. After he left hordes of demons devoured the city of Tristram burning it to the ground. On this hero's journey he passes through a monastery and corrupts the rogues which had inhabited it. This is where you enter, you start off in the rogues camp. Some of the rogues where able to escape the wanderer's wrath and wish to again occupy their monastery.

The Control

I found the control very easy to get used to. There are several keyboard shortcuts that will make life easy. You can assign any skill you wish to either mouse button, you can cast spells with right or left and attack with right or left. As with the orignal you still have a potion belt, so all you have to do to heal is hit a number 1-4. You can assign skills to F1-F8, so all you have to do to change from fireball to icebolt is hit F1. The game also includes a button you can hold to attack from where you stand. If you hold on shift while attacking your character will not more. Also you may now hold on the mouse button to cast or attack repeatedly instead of having to press it once for every attack.

Weapons and Armour

There are tens of thousands of different weapons and armours. As with the original there are still unique items, which are very hard to find, that have excellent stats. However, there is a new spin on things. You can find socketed items, this items will hold gems which will enhance its stats. Along your quest you'll find many different types of gems and skulls. These all add to different types of armour and weapons. Each gem and skull has three different affects depending on which item it is attached to, shield, weapon, or helm. There is also and item called
a horadric cube, this item will let you combine items to make different items. For example, you can mix 6 gems with a sword and get a socketed long sword, or 3 mana potions with 3 heal potions and get a rejuvination potion. There are many different things you can make, it just takes some experimentation.

In addition to all of this there are also now ''set items'' Set items will normally have a helm, gloves, weapon, armour, and boots. You get a huge stat bonus for wearing the entire set at the same time.

I recommend getting this game if you liked the orginal Diablo. This game will provide hours of entertainment. very addictive.
