Advantages: lite on adverts, easy, you always get something
Disadvantages: hard games
Goldrun is a hokey, deceptive arcade that allows you to win total rubbish off the site by playing games. It is understandable that all the prizes are garbage since there is apparently little advertising.
The premise is simple, play games and earn nuggets. Use the nuggets to enter drawings for prizes or trade in huge amounts of nuggets for trinkets. A person has to have the right idea, that this isn't a site that can be used to get ahead and earn money, you basically need to enjoy the games for themselves for this site to be worthwhile. I blew all my nuggets trying to win money and instead won a junky little key chain flask opener.
The thing is if you find a game you love, as I have with the free cell solataire, you are limited in the amount of nuggets you can earn a day (1000) so if you are saving up for the big prize, a slot machine at 500000 nuggets you will have to have a life expectancy of a Tortoise, so make sure you leave you password in the will for your grandkids to keep your account going. It is nice to see that when you "buy" entries into the raffles for shirts, jewelry, trips, tools and so on that you can see your odds since it shows how many tickets have been sold. I prefer just to win cash as I don't have room for many trinkets as I am living in my car for awhile and spend all day in the public library using the internet for free to try to win money
They have a cool loyalty program where if you go back a lot you get your daily limit increased and free tickets to cash drawings.To achieve this status is called "becomming a miner", personally I have seen to much stuff on TV and heard about miners fighting over cups of urine while trapped underground to want this title.
I guess I need to tell you about the variety of games. I am hooked on free cell solataire, the klondike solataire isn't anything but normal solataire that they have mislabelled. They have a fun hangman game called
"hang the Bandit" where you pick letters to try to solve word puzzles. The other trivia GAMES are just plain difficult, but that is for me, and I only attended school until I was 14, you book smart people might like them. They have a game where you guess lines from songs or movies but you have to get 100% correct to score any nuggets. Concentration is fun, but the graphics are too choppy and then the slot machine games are totally lame.
The site is worth checking out. Give it a try and good luck I hope you win something. Otherwise save up 30 days worth of points and try to win a flying disk.
