In a world of endless FIFA sequels and poor licenced games (Pele, Ryan Giggs, Manchester United: The Double etc.), an underdog from the East was released on an unsuspecting public. Konami didn't know what they had started. Sure, FIFA was a good, fun game and had a MASSIVE following, but ISS was a purer simulation of the beautiful game. ISS on the SNES was the best 16-bit version by far. It was the first title to have full audio commentary and challenges to complete, based on real life match situations.
