Advantages: Very enjoyable
Disadvantages: You will need previous lemmings experience to make the most of it.
If you haven't played Lemmings before, it is a game where you have to rescue Lemmings from falling off a cliff.
Well not quite. The idea of the game comes from that myth and often you lemmings will fall off a precipice, or find themselves in a fatal situation.
Your mission is to get a horde (is that the proper collective noun) of lemmings safely home.
In the original lemmings this involved guiding the lemmings through, over or under a set of obstacles designed to kill them, or at least hinder their progress. The lemmings get round through, under and over these obstacles using a range of tools at their disposal.
For Lemmings Tribes, the game is played in a similar fashion, although there is a backstory involving tribes of Lemmings working towards... well I won't spoil the plot.
This time the Lemmings are split into tribes Classic, Circus, Cavelem, Shadow, Space, Outdoor, Beach, Sports, Egyptian, Highland, Polar and Medieval.
Effectively this gives twelve 'different' versions of the game, with their own internal levels, and this time round there is more music and more tools and skills for the lemmings to use.
It is designed for the experienced lemmings player, so you might find it a little frustrating, if you have come into it 'cold' with no Lemmings experience.
This game is fun and I often drag out my old Amiga for a game. I don't know if it is available for the PC, and if it was I doubt it would run on a modern OS such as Vista.
I recommend you pick up an old Amiga and a copy of this game on ebid
Summary: Fun Fun Fun
