Disadvantages: Everything else

This is a review on the classic game Panzer Dragoon, some of you might not have heard of this game before, as it was not really a famous game, yet then again, most of you might. This is an adventure game that relies on the story more then action, but don’t get me wrong, there is some action, which can make this game very good. There are many Panzer Dragoon games now, but I am reviewing the original, as it is the only one that I have played.

Story
*****
You are a soldier that rides this dragon like creature around many levels, and adventures, you fly around, shooting down enemies, which can consist of being of flying monsters, or enemies on the grounds. Your aim is to restore peace, and stop the attacks.

Game
*****
The game itself is pretty good, you will be flying around on your dragon like creature shooting enemies of all kinds, but while you are doing that, you will be in loads of different areas. The environment of this game is very good, you will be flying over great seas, in caves, mazes, through mountains, over large cities, you name it, its there.

The game can be quite difficult to master, even which difficulty setting you put the game on, either easy, normal or hard, the game will still be a tough one to break through.

What makes this game pretty good, is mainly that it is original, and it has built up (that some people think) a good saga. I am not really a fan of these types of games myself, I found them boring, and just did not hold my attention for long. But you fans of flying around on freaky creatures, then you will love this game.

Normally the bosses of this game are mainly things that are bigger then houses, which can be very hard to kill, as some of them can only be hurt by firing at them at a certain place on their body or whatever it is. The bosses are very original, you will be surprised when you find that the boss you are fighting is nothing like you expected, or hoped it would be.

Sound
******
The games background music is not bad, it really sets the mood of the game, and is sometimes fun to listen to, and it’s more of a soothing music then hardcore rock, but its not bad all round for music.

The sound effects of the game are good, with the whooshing of the wind while you fly on your dragon like creature, and the noises of you firing at the enemies, and when you hit the enemies, it all makes sense.

There are no voices in this game, as it is only on a 32bit console, which makes the game seam less impressive, but when they talk, which is quite a bit at sometimes, it is written out for you, so you read what they say, you will know whose talking by the picture and name before it says what they saying.

Graphics
********
The games graphics is nothing to be impressed with, well nowadays it isn’t, but in those days, that is what you would call top notch graphics, unless you are comparing them to Final Fantasy, then no it isn’t. But anyway, the graphics are pretty good; very pixily as most games were in those days, but hey, can’t expect that it would be perfect can you?

Other
*****
The game is quite enjoyable when you first play it, then it starts to get so repetitive, you will start thinking ‘haven’t I already done this?’ and stuff like that. But when you first play it, it is pretty fun.

The game is not addictive at all, unless you don’t mind mindless repetitiveness, but I don’t really, so did not really hold my attention for long.

The game is pretty original, it is the first of a big saga, and it is still going today, I think that deserves a round of applause… NAH, got better things to do. But… yeah its original alright.

The game is good value for money nowadays, might be able to find it on EBAY for around £2+ or maybe even cheaper, as you don’t know with EBAY. It is good value, yet no point buying it if you don’t like that sort of games.

My Opinion
***********
It is an ok game when you first play it, it will hold your attention for a week or so, then it might have to be returned to the store after that. I like the way they made it, but they could of done a lot more with it, I would purchase it if they added loads more too it and remade it with better graphics etc etc.

I give this game a 1 star *, it has some spunk, but no where near has the capability to beat the newer games that are out now, I don’t normally give games 1 star, but this game certainly needs improving.
