Advantages: Compelling and addictive
Disadvantages: The soundtrack
The hours of fun I had on this game when I had my Commodore64 must add up to a year or two of my lifetime on this planet. It is so simple yet so addictive and in my opinion it's a cult classic that will never die.
The game consists of a young lad on his bike who has to deliver papers around the neighbourhood. He doesn't get off his bike so therefore this means that he basically lobs the paper and hopes for the best. The aim of the game is to get as many papers into the correct post boxes as you make your way through the streets. You get points for hitting some windows and doors and various other things and points are deducted if you hit the wrong thing. You also have to start all over a gain if you hit the various obstacles in the street so your eyes need to be everywhere.
The graphics on this game are so bad and when I look back at it now, I can't believe I sat playing this but having said that it matched up to the other computer games that were available at the time.
The sound track is repetitive and boring and there were many times when I turned the volume right down so I didn't have to listen to it. Every now and again the paper boy speaks but you can barely understand what he says and the sound that they created to represent the breaking of the window would make a dog run a mile, it's so high pitched.
This game is simple and compared to games on the market today, it doesn't compare or live up to that standard at all but it's seriously addictive and compelling that once you start, you won't be able to put the remote down again!
The controls are easy to use there isn't much going on so for a simpleton like me this is a really good thing.
Over all this is an excellent game that will live forever and is suitable for any member of the family including all of those mums out there who don't even know what a games console means!
Summary: A great game that I love!
