Return to Raccoon City for more zombie carnage in this sequel to the survival horror classic. Released as Biohazard 2 in Japan, Resident Evil 2 places you in the role of either Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie cop, or Claire Redfield, sister to Resident Evil's Chris. The sinister Umbrella Corporation has once again infected the populace with the mysterious T-Virus, transforming everyday citizens into grotesque zombies hungry for human flesh. The game features polygonal characters and prerendered backgrounds, and the same unique (or cumbersome, depending on your preference) controls as the first game. New weapons and monsters abound, and the paths taken by each of the characters are completely different. Despite more professional voice acting than the previous effort, the dialogue retains the B-movie cheesiness that is a hallmark of the series.

Resident Evil 2 is also available for multiple platforms, including the Nintendo 64, Dreamcast (in Japan and in Europe only), and the PC. A Dual Shock version was subsequently released and offers two new gameplay modes.
