Advantages: great strory, film like qualitys

Disadvantages: too short

Well.... I bought this game on Saturday, and it was finished by that evening. I was very dissapointed, because the game (while it lasted) was extremely good, right up there with the Zeldas and Half-Lifes if this world. The set-pieces were timed perfectly and were scarieer than any other game I have played. The storyline is film-quality, despite the cheesey voice acting. In fact, the game is similer to films in many ways. It is short, has a strong storyline, and lots of big guns. Its like watching a George Romero flick, but with you as the star character. The story pushes you to get further on in the game, as you can always sense that a twist is just around the corner. Well, thats if there isn't a crowd of zombies there instead.

The thing that amazes me about this game, however, is the set-pieces. You will approach zombies munching on a dead corpse, have dogs burst out of kennals next to you, and have things fly through windows at you. There is one amazingly cool scene inside an autopsy room, which is packed with bodies. You go and get a important item from a corner of the room, and one of the bodies twitches slightly, and gets up. As do the other 7 bodies in the room. Wheres a rocket launcher when you need one...

On top of all that, there is brilliant music, which, although not quite in the Zelda legue, is very aptnospheric. And the sound effects are good, as you can tell what type of horror is lurking around a corner just by its noise. Special mention has to go to the licker, which is some sort of well... thing. Its tongue is very long, and very sharp. And when you can only hear it, it has a raspy sort of breathing, and you can hear its feet tap-tap-tapping.

You can go through it all, totoaly immersed, but then it ends. You are treated to an amazing ending sequence, and cool credits, but you can't help feeling there should be something more. Sure, there are other B scenarios, but they are no more difficult than the A ones, and the
whole game takes place in the same areas. It took me 3 hours to finish the game, having never played it before. Not good enough really, is it?
