Not As Good As The Original (But Still Good) (Resident Evil 2)

Capcom once again bring you to the world of survival horror. With much more zombies, dogs and many other nasty creatures like the licker. The licker like its name has a deadly tongue and you should probably use a powerful weapon on it like the shotgun. There?s also spiders, tyrants and other baddies. The characters are Leon ? A new recruit on the R.C.P.D (Racoon City Police Department). The other character is called Claire and is in town to look for her brother Chris Redfield ? a character from the first game.

The setting is in a police station. In my opinion this does not have the same atmosphere as the mansion in the original. In good old fashioned resident evil style you have to solve many puzzles to open doors and escape through a sewer system and then a factory solving even more puzzles not to mention all the baddies you have to kill.

The storyline is good and makes the game quite addictive. With each of the two characters you have different scenarios and thing have to be completed in a different order. Each character has 2 scenarios each. Whilst this is a clever idea I think this makes it not as good as the original. It makes the game far too short, you?re just getting hooked and then it ends. Also I do not find the game challenging enough, if you like difficult games like me this is not the one for you.

The sound like in the first one is very good (apart from the dodgy speech) and really puts you on edge. The music makes you feel like its about to make you jump and its usually right.

The graphics aren?t spectacular but they?re ok. The gameplay is good (not as good as the original though). This in my opinion is the most important aspect of a game.

Conclusion ? a good game but not a classic.
