Robocod

Newest Review: ... the kidnapped penguins (or elves) in each level, then finding the exit will open the next door and so on. Robocod himself ... more

... is a pretty robust character, with his new metal body allowing him the power to stretch vertically to almost any surface to allow greater access, or to allow him to make his way above enemies and then fall onto them with a resounding crunch. The enemies, although a seemingly happy bunch on the surface, soon discard their charm and remain constant obstacles, sometimes appearing suddenly to take away those precious three lives. The other obstacles in the game come in the form of spike traps, angry vehicles, flying cards...more

Premium Review Robocod: Something fishy going on at the north pole!!! (428 words)
by - written on 02/11/09 (Very useful, 13 readings)
Rating:

This time it's off to Santa's Workshop in the North Pole, where your evil nemesis Dr. Maybe has been up to no good again. Maybe's dastardly plan is to kidnap all of Santa's workers, namely penguins (or elves, depending on which system you have) who are in dire need of rescuing. Not being one to leave them out in the cold, you don your new robotic suit and answering to your new codename "Robocod" you set off to finally thwart your nemesis and restore order to Santa's workshop. The game itself came, as did most on a 3.5 floppy disk on the Commodore Amiga system. Our fishy friend also made an appearance on other well known systems at the time (albeit ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review How the Cyborg Fish Saved Christmas (1013 words)

Rating:

You’d think that a video game franchise based primarily on fishy puns of popular films and dogged with product placement of Penguin chocolate bars would be disappointing at best, but Millennium’s entertaining piscine romp combined the best elements of platform games over the previous five years and became of the best-loved games of 1991. PREMISE In the first game, James Pond was an aquatic secret agent, working for the intelligence agency FI5H against the evil Dr. Maybe. (Yes, some of the more contrived similarities to Bond are a bit pathetic). In ‘Robocod’ the parody is less direct and the layout more accessible, Pond’s goal now simply ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Robocod: Name's Pond - James Pond! (629 words)
by - written on 20/11/04 (Very useful, 95 readings)
Rating:

First we had the adventures of James Pond under the sea. These days are hero can survive on land. ====The Story==== An evil professor has gone to the South Pole and kidnapped half he penguine population. Only one fish can save them - James Pond. Your job is to go around the ware house and save your friends - but watch out, if you don't succeed, penguins are very partial to a kipper for lunch! ====Game Play==== Absolute hours of fun here. There are so many levels to work through, that I've yet to find anyone who's completed the whole game. Being a joystick game, the controls are very simple, up for jump, left, right ...  Read the complete review

James Pond is back (93 words)
by - written on 30/11/00
Rating:

James Pond was back after his original hit platformer in what was a mismash of James Bond and Robocop underwater! Some of the graphics were good considering it was an amiga and the levels were very taxing and contained many surreal secret bonus rooms. I prefer James Pond's Aquatic Games which to me was much more addictive, but I still feel Robocod is better than other platformers such as Superfrog. I still haven't finished it after ten years and is one of the reasons I still keep my amiga plugged in! ...  Read the complete review
