... ten minutes. It is a visually striking game, with sumptuous graphics and lovely landscapes and you will instantly think 'wow this is going to be good.' Your character shuffles across the screen and has to complete a series of challenges. So far so good, but the gameplay is really near on impossible. For a game supposedly targeted at teens or children, it is ridiculously hard to master. If my memory serves me well enough, I managed to get several screens into the game before getting stuck at some stupid bit where so...more

If you had an Amiga, chances are you might have stumbled upon this game. It sounds exciting, 'Shadow Of The Beast 2.' I guess there must have been a 'Shadow Of The Beast 1' but I had the fortune of not owning that one. So what was it then, well it was a a scrolling platformer game released by Psygnosis in 1990. The game provided minutes of torturous playing. I would say hours, but it did not provide hours of fun. Usually, the game would be taken out of the disc drive within about ten minutes. This game was state of the art back in 1990, where it's sheer audacity with graphics and controller response pushed it way above anything else that came out at the time. Problem was if you moved a screen or two left ...  Read the complete review

Shadow of the Beast II is a game from Psygnosis. Any Amiga user with a good memory will therefore know exactly what to expect here - stunning graphics, great sound, wonderful attention to detail...and so damn tough to play that you'll give up within hours and never come back to it again. That pretty much sums up Shadow of the Beast II. Its hardly worth talking about anything else because this game is so hard that you'll be lucky if you make it past the first couple of screens without dying. By screen 10 - 15 you are doing damn well, but then who the hell wants to play a game where every shuffle forward can be met with instant death. You are ...  Read the complete review
