Half-Life in General: ... the upcoming release of half-life episode 2, I recently decided to finally splash out some cash and play episode 1. I have been a faithful half life fan over the last few years after finding myself (rather surprisingly) enthralled by the original half-life 1, first person fps shooter, I became an addict (playing other valve games such as CS regularly). The graphics may not be great (designed in 1997) but the pro...

Frankingsteins Forgotten Worlds
... seemingly endless trawl through the obsolete Sega MegaDrive archive this week highlights ‘Forgotten Worlds,’ a game that may, indeed, have become forgotten in the nineteen years since it first hit arcades partly due to its uselessly misleading title. Rather than being one of those early role-playing ‘Lord of the Rings’ style games that were quite good, if a little unoriginal, it is instead a scrolling shoot-em-up set in a post-nuclear ‘The Terminator’ style world in which the player’s goal is to blast the hell out of everything. Again, not the most original concept, but still something of an arcade niche in 1988. Published by Capcom, ‘Forgotten Worlds’ has much in com...

... on the amiga is a masterpiece. The extra colours on the first few levels add to the sense of realism. Couple that with the rather special sound effects. However as you progress your shoot em’ up qualities come more into play.the problem is on the amiga version, the helicopters minimum height is really low, but higher on my Atari ST s. This makes the one player game a lot harder, as shooting a lot of the ground based enemies really needs the jeep player to be present as well. Secondly on some of the levels the graphics are actually better looking than you may think. The scrolling (remarkably) is very good. This is one of the best horizontal scrollers on the 16bit,...

... is an old skool classic, you must get it! you may even remember playing it. the graphics are not upto the Xbox360 standards, but thats all part of playing a game like this Amiga classic. The story line is also wicked. This space shoot em up has some great weppons, turn your TV up and enjoy. i need to tell you though, this game will keep you hooked, but its very hard, get your friends around for retro gaming. enjoy....
