Burning_Darkness Redneck Rampage: ... back in 1997, Redneck Rampage is an endearing early first person shooter that uses the Blood engine. The plot is particularly inspired, concerning as it does two redneck brothers: Leanord (whom you play as) and his intellectually challenged sibling Bubba, who are on a mission to rescue their pet pig Bessie after she has been kidnapped by aliens who are presently invading planet Earth. You go up against a w...

Burning_Darkness Afterburner
... the huge success of Space Harrier at the arcades came After-Burner , a game which followed the exact same principle but this time put you in control of a lightning fat military jetfighter. As in Space Harrier the game is played from a third-person perspective, requiring you to tilt your fighter from left to right as you avoid incoming missiles whilst simultanously trying to lock on to enemy targets and blow them out of the sky. It can be quite fun for a limited while, but the main appeal of the game was always the graphics, which look very dated indeed by todays standards. They represent an early attempt at 3d and looked good for the time, the ground whizzing ...

Burning_Darkness Forgotten Worlds
... released in 1988 as an arcade machine by Capcom before being ported over too the Amiga, Sega Megadrive, Supernintendo and a number of other formats, Forgotten Worlds is a fairly formulaic side-scrolling shoot-em-up in which you play as a heavily-armed, jetpack-equipped soldier who hovers in mid-air blasting away at foes both in the air and on the ground as the screen scrolls steadily from left to right. One innovation the game does has going for it is that your character is able to fire in 360 degrees, rather than just straight forward, but other than this its shoot-ep-up business as usual as you blast your way through the various baddies whilst collecting ...

Burning_Darkness Ikari Warriors
... released back in 1986, Ikari Warriors is a top-down shooter very much in the vein of both Who Dares Wins and Purple Heart, casting you as an American marine whose plane has crash-landed behind ememy lines in the Jungle, requiring you to press upwards through dirt tracks and across bridges, wiping out enemy troops with your machinegun and blowing up tanks pillboxes and helicopters (?) with grenades, which can also be used to take out large groups of enemy troops at once. You can move and fire in 360 degrees and can also jump into abandoned tanks, though these will blow up when you take too many hits or run out of fuel, requiring you to jump out at the last minu...
