Advantages: great game, kick butt beat em up, also 2 players

Disadvantages: poor graphics, needs some tactics

This review is about the great game called Streets of Rage 3, it continues from the prequel Streets of Rage 2. You go around the streets, fighting all these different hoodlums, and gangs, and punks. By kicking them, or punching them, you will be beating them up. This game is 2 players, which is either co-op or duelling, but I will give more information about this later in the review.

In one player mode, you will be going around the streets or in building, fighting punks all other people. At the end of each level, you will have to fight a boss, who can be an agent, where they will shoot at you, or you could be fighting loads of people at once, that just decide to come and kill you. There are weapons that you can pick up within the game, like a metal pole, or a baseball bat, so you can do more damage to your enemy. Some enemies will just jump down from above you to gain the advantage of surprise, and then some enemies will have daggers and knifes to defeat you, but if you defeat this enemy, you will be able to pick up the weapon he/she was using if they were using one.

In two players co-operative, you will be doing the same thing as one player, but there will be two of you. This mode is very enjoyable, and it makes the game much easier to complete the levels. But it takes up more continues if you die, because you only have a set amount of continues, and in two player, you will be sharing, instead of having your own set of continues. If you decide to do two players duel mode, you will pick your fighter, and so will player 2, and then you will fight in an arena, where you will just have a big punch up like most other fighting games. There might be weapons in these matches, so one of you will be able to get the advantage, but there probably be more than one weapon, so no one gets the upper hand.

The playability of the game is great, there are loads of things you can do, you are able to pick one of the four characters, and then go around streets beating people up for no reason, I call that a hell of a lot of fun. The addictiveness of the game, really you will be able to play this game for ages, the game is quite long, so you wont be able to complete really quickly, enjoy yourself by trying to defeat the many bosses of each stage.

The game is very original, it is the first game to do this hole street fighting, you are able to move around the street how you want to, in reason, and when you defeat all the enemies in that area, an arrow will pop up pointing in the direction you should go, so you will fight again. The sound of the game is great, it has loads of good music, and you can get midis and MP3's of them. There are no voices in this game, it is typing like most games at this time as stage. So no voices, but I recon which would be really good, is if they re-made this game for like the Playstation 2 or the XBOX.

The graphics for this game is not bad, it was good in its day, but now it just looks too many pixily. You will find them not bad though, the people actually look like people, and the weapons look all real, which is one good thing, but it is way too many pixels, which brings it down. The game is not really that difficult, you can increase the difficulty in the options mode, and you could have it as easy, normal or hard, depending how well you are at the game. The game value is really good, the game is worth around £5, so when you find it, you will want to get it if you own a megadrive. Or you could search for the ROM of it on the internet, but if you do this, don’t forget to get the Megadrive Emulator first.

This game is rated 11+, for its brutalness. For some of people who dont know what ROM's are, they are the same version of the game, that have been uploaded to the computer, so people can download them for free. You can get this game from anywere really. This is a great game in my point of view; I had loads of fun on this. My brother use to own this on the Megadrive, and we use to play it for hours, now I have it on a ROM, which enables me to play the game, without buying it. I give this game a 3 star because of its hardcore gaming.

Summary: classic sequel in the Streets Of Rage series

I've got this with about 1000 other MegaDrive games on my emulator, but I don't enjoy it as much as similar (let's face it, almost exactly the same) games like Golden Axe and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ones. It's all a bit limited and repetitive after the first level, as are all games like this, but the bosses at least pose a big challenge.

The original was one of the few games I have ever completed without the use of cheats.
