The Chaos Engine

Newest Review: ... a monster he would be picking of the one behind you, he will happily collect money and weapons hanging around and even kill ... more

... the big bosses if you are to busy running away being the big pansy you undoubtedly are. Upgrades ********* Of course no shoot-em-up would be complete without the option to upgrade and this is something "The Chaos Engine" does well. Collect the coins generously left by your deceased foes and each characters main weapon can be upgraded. An array of grenades, flame-throwers and bombs can also be purchased and even skills such as speed improved. Graphics, sound and all that jazz *****************************...more

Crowned Review The Chaos Engine: The beauty of Chaos (997 words)

Rating:

"The Chaos Engine" is a game from the legendary Bitmap Brothers. Those of you who are either too young or too old will not remember this game being released for the Commodore Amiga in 1993 amid a wave of hype due to classic groundbreaking games such as Xenon and Speedball 2. The Plot ********** As with the majority of the games of its time the plot was merely secondary to the gameplay. "The Chaos Engine" is a machine, which has taken on a life of its own, and using its ability to transform space and time has created a cloud of "chaos" deforming humanity into mutants and savages. PREMISE At the turn of the twentieth century, in the heart of Britain’s industrial development, scientists created a bizarre machine: the Chaos Engine. The world was warped, beats began ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Chaos Engine: A Bit Of A Plodder And Not A Whole Heap Of Fun (439 words)

The Chaos Engine is a multidirectional shoot 'em up(?) from those programming legends of the 80s and early 90s - The Bitmap Brothers. They brought us some of the best shoot 'em up style games on the Amiga platform and other machines, but sadly seemed to lose it a little here. The idea behind The Chaos Engine is not exactly a bad one, its just not very exciting to play. You get to choose from a variety of different characters with different attributes, weaponary etc...the usual kind of thing I don't need to go into it again here, you all know the drill by now. Once chosen its into the action as you battle across numerous terrains to get to you final ...  Read the complete review
