Advantages: Good graphics, Nice plot, lots of humour

Disadvantages: Please insert disk.........

The Secret of Monkey Island was both one of my best and one of my worst games on the Amiga.

It was good in that great attention was paid to the level of detail in the game. Graphically, this game was superb. I also liked the fact that the game was, to me, a challenge (Do I hear sniggering from all you hardened RPG fans?). It took me ages to complete and I spent many a frustrated evening hurling abuse at Guybrush Threepwood for not having a mind of his own. I found the sarcastic humour in the game to be funny. There's one scene in a pub where a grog-swilling pirate advertises new and upcoming game releases!

Although this game has a serious plot to it, there's loads of humour along the way to make you chuckle to yourself and release a bit of that excess annoyance.

I suppose the downside to this game would be the rigorous disk swapping which is called for about every 5 mins (Yes - I have seen Monkey Island 2's 12 disk hell). Monkey Island is only 4 disks but it becomes very mundain having to swap these disks all the time.

On the whole I think this game is class and writing this opinion makes me want to play it again. I wish I hadn't sold my trusty A1200. Bummer!

Chuckie Egg 2 was hard, I had Chuckie Egg and it was quite easy until you got on to later levels which became totally impossible.

You really should be checking out some of the online stores for a games collection which I think was called Lucasarts Gold (but I ain't sure) it had Monkey Island 1 & 2 and Day of the Tentacle as well!! Heck I'm getting all nostalgic now!
