Advantages: pets, grow your own food, new ideas

Disadvantages: sometimes my sim gets stuck when i got into town and try to buy things

The Sims had always been a favourite game of mine, so when I heard about a new add-on coming out that included pets I was very excited. I have known some of the other add-on’s to not bring to much to to the game in the way of variety, but this one is certainly not the case.
Maxis the game’s maker have brought a totally new outlook to the sims and this time they are not only fun, but can bring a lot of mischief to the game too. Pets! Now you can have cute cats and dogs wrecking your house, digging up your garden, and leaving little presents on your kitchen floor. Honestly it’s not all bad it’s actually a lot of fun.
GETTING YOUR FIRST PET
The first thing you need to do is to venture into the town district by calling a shuttle, then choose an animal adoption centre. When you get to the pet shop you can select a cat/dog from one of the many breed’s, they are sitting displayed in tiny pens so you can have a quick play with them first. If however you don’t fancy getting your little bundle of trouble straight away you can always start with a goldfish, turtle ,parrot ,iguana, or budgie. If you pick a dog/cat you get to pick a name and also choose its sex ( if you get male and female you may end up with babies later on).while your still at the shop you can pick up all sorts of goodies for your new pet, such as a collar, toy, or treat (the other items you can buying from the menu when you get home).
When you take your pet home, the first thing you need to do is buy it a dog bowl and fill it with food. It’ll also need a dog bath, some toys (unless you want holes in your garden, a bed (it will sleep on the floor if u can’t afford one straight away) , and if you have a cat a kitty litter tray.
TRAINING YOUR FIRST PET
Now we have
your pet happy you need to train it ,or end up with the pet from hell.
Like your sim your pet has skills it’ll need to work on to improve. House breaking is a matter of telling your dog off when it leaves puddles around your home, till it learns to use the garden ,and then you praise him (a cat will automatically use its dirt box).Obedience is calling over your pet or making him" sit and stay" ,the better he gets the longer he’ll stay for. Your pet can learn tricks and help socialise with the owner at the same time, my cat can play the keyboard and my dog can do flips. Only one trick can be learnt at a time but will be always available when learnt. A good way to get your pet to trust you is to play fetch with it or ask it to do a new trick it’s learnt .If you do well with all this then why not try out at the pet contest and bring home a trophy?
WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
Pets aren’t the only new addition to the game u can now be self-sufficient and grow your own vegetables .You get a choice of growing carrots ,peas, lettuces, or tomatoes which you can either sell at the market or cook for your dinner ( if you grow a giant vegetable you get more money for it). This can lead to problems as where there’s food there’s also hungry little rabbits!, I did get a pumpkin but found it didn’t work so I got my cat to hunt them instead.
Other extras are stray animals that will stay on your property as well as, gophers, rabbits, mice, racoon ,and the rather annoying skunks that will spray a nasty odour making your dog smell bad ( time to call animal control!).There’s now over 125+ new objects walls and floors, plus an old town with comes with it’s own unique objects. Many new and exciting careers have been added including, fashion(department store clerk),education (playground monitor),animal care (dog walker),culinary(dishwasher),cir
cus( popcorn vendor),these each have 10 levels
in each career.

THE BIT AT THE END
I think this game really adds to the sims experience and is the best add-on I own. I would highly recommend it to any sim fan (unless u dislike animals then I’d recommend to stay clear of it as it’s your worst nightmare). If you’ve never played this game before you do need THE SIMS but you don’t have to have any of the other games to make it play. It does bring a breath of fresh air back into the game and I know its what many people have been waiting for.

Good review, sounds like a good game. My only quibble would be to ask you to space out your reviews a bit more to make them more readable. Just being picky. jim
