First of all I have to say this isn't actually a review of Unreal in itself, for my review on that you can read my review over in the "Home > Games > Computer and Video Games > PC Games > All PC Games > Unreal Tournament" section. Or on the other hand read some other peoples, they're probably better anyway!! What I'm going to tell you here is all to do with the great invention that is online gaming, but I had a little dilemma here - you see the best part of Unreal is the multiplayer, but to be honest plain old Unreal is not the best multiplayer game for Unreal Tournament! There are many modifications (mods) for Unreal Tournament that are ... Read the complete review

I must tell you about the latest craze to sweep my office. Its called Unreal Tournament. OK, its not the most modern of games but we have just installed it on our development server. There is not much work on so we have to amuse ourselves somehow!!! What is it? Basically, it is 2 games in one. Firstly it is a basic shoot-em-up game that involves you running around complex mazes, picking up weapons and blowing your opponents up. As a single player game it is mildly entertaining as you progress through the various levels of difficulty against differing types of opponent. The levels have diiferent skills to master as you ... ...that we are accustomed to seeing from this company what makes it so successful, but the clever marketing of this game as a sports title just adds to it's fast success, which has swept the world. The game now has more of a sports entertainment element to it, without having to ditch the gorefost altogether, if at all. As I said, as it's pretty much annual editions of the UT series now, like any sports title, there has to be an update every time a new "version" is released, but with the same elements from the original, or it loses it's credibility. This is Unreal Tournament 2003. This visuals are, of course, awesome, and unrivaled in ... Read the complete review

UT is a very good online game. with the standard game types, deathmatch, CTF (capture the flag) and team deathmatch. but with one quality addition. assault. now i am sure everyone knows what deathmatch and CTF is, and its possible to work out what happens in team deathmatch. but maybe not in assault. in assault there are 2 teams, each with objectives to complete a mission. different depending on the map. for example, in one map the first team has to get onto a boat to destroy a gate with the other team defending. in the second round the roles are reversed, and the team which won in the fastest time wins. simple really :) online the ping is ... Epic give us the successor in their Unreal game line, with far larger improvements. But now its in the budget section for only a tenner! After their failing attempt to create a decent multiplayer for Unreal, they headed their way towards a competitor (and a good one at that) with Quake 3. Based around the idea of playing a multiplayer game offline with the same thrills and spills of online games, it excels in all of its predecessors areas. Graphically, it runs sweetly, smoothly and kindly to those less powerful computers. Beautifully rendered, it looks great on any 8mb or more video card. The music keeps your adrenaline pumping (slightly heavy metal with a ... Read the complete review
