Marantz PM 6002 ... are a number of high quality amplifiers at the moment within the budget range and Marantz certainly figures prominently in this group. As with all of these amplifiers, they each seem to provide their own characteristic or sonic signature. In the case of Marantz, I usually consider them to be very open throughout the mid range and delivering a crisp clean bass or "snap" to the music. Therefore it was of a great interest to me to finally hear this particular amplifier which has been so highly praised in many publications. Cambridge Audio A5 ... a remarkable amp at the price ,i bought thecd4 to match it, then everything was as even in sound as it is in looks, iv recently perchased a cambridge hdd dvd player,well now this is were this item comes into a life of its own, the hdd thru the amp is absolutely brain melting,i owned a quad 77 amp and cd player, with mission m51s speakers , and tha was awesome to tell the truth, but there again, i put the cambridge amp and hdd against it, and was amazed wat came out in competiveness they both sounded almost equal. except the quad did have a more rounder spacier sound, but not much more , the cambridge held its sound with ease, the quad struggled on rock n blues which... Pioneer A 109 ... bought this amplifier a couple of years ago to use in a second system at my girlfriend s house. After much reading on the internet the oppinions were mixed but I was looking for rock-bottom cheap but still decent sound. Picked this one up on ebay for £30 because it had a dodgy input selectro button. They still retail for about £100-130 though. First impressions were that it felt light for the size and, taking a look at the inside through the venting holes confirmed that it contained a simple power suply and a simple circuit board that s suuposed to do all the magic.
