Cambridge Audio A5 ... managed to get this from richer sounds in brum for the stupidly low price of £100 on an offer, was originally going to pair it up with some less expensive speakers but in the end i went for the Mordaunt Short 902i. Which leaves my system very similar to my brother s system which originally inspired me to splash out. I got this beast in black with black speakers to match, so apart from the sound, it looks schweeet. now i own this set up my itunes is never closed, and my room never silent. the 60 wpc is probs more than you will use, and the bass and treble response make you wonder if it really is worth going to the bathroom, when you could just stay here and listen to yo... Sony TA FB940/S ... have owned a TA FB940 amp for about 6 years, at the weekend it really gets some hammer driving my massive B&W 605 series2 speakers, which it does effortlessly. I wanted a really simple amp with no flashing lights or other distractions and that is what I got. I originally bought it to drive much smaler B&Ws and thought I would have to upgrade when I got bigger speakers, but it was soon apparent that this was not so. I have always been wary of the big brands like Sony, Phillips, Panasonic etc but as this is one of Sony s QS range I think you get a lot better quality than the usual, cheaper throw away ranges. NAD C320 ... have been making great hifi kit for decades, though you d never guess to look at them. Most of their range comes housed in highly unimaginative grey boxes, and look like military equipment from the Cold War. It s what s inside that matters though, and here this amp doesn t disappoint. At a cost of a mere £200, this is at the very bottom end of the NAD range, but it s still a benchmark for budget amps, continually winning awards from hifi magazines and audiophiles.
