Denon PMA-250SE: ... good amp is the centre of any separate system, and choosing the right amp for your needs is vital to your enjoyment of music. I mainly listen to guitar based indie and alternative rock, but I also wanted a system that could double to provide music for parties, so I needed a system that can deliver a broad range of sounds as well as thumping bass. About two years ago I went to get my first system with this in mind, ...

tomalon NAD C340
... NAD C340 Integrated Amplifier is great. I am only quite new to the whole hi-fi separate scene. This is the first amplifier that I have bought. I was first drawn to it through What Hi*Fi. It won their product of the year 1999 and they continue to use it when testing speakers, CD players and other equipment. I have a quite a small room in college, but even with my speakers from an old system, I never have to move the volume to more than a quarter of the maximum. I have listened it at higher volumes but it is my speakers that are the weakest link. At all levels the quality of the music is amazing. It is crisp and clear, vocals are easily discernible and each inst...

M_J_Carrier NAD C320
... of the 1998 What Hi-Fi? Best Buy Amplifier Award, this truly is a Amplifier that will stand up to the competion. True its simple, typical NAD, design can leave you feeling abit like, 'what's all that money for then?' but it well worth the price tag. The Amplifier offers a respecatble 40W of power that is easily enough to power most speakers in most rooms. It is important when buying separate system you are buying quality. If you want features then you might as well get a mini-system. What the C320 offers is an amplifer that can take the rough with the smooth. A amplifier that impresses with its loud and unburstable presentation. Don't be foole...

Sony TA-FE330
... "330" amp is proberably one of the best intermediate amps on the market with a couple of features some more expensive models are lacking. One of the main benefits is the extra inputs this model has - two tape loops (mini-disc, dat, dcc and CD recorders go through tape loops) although, sadly, Sony haven't thought of people wanting to use these decks to connect to one another as not all have digital connectivity. A phone stage is also here so you don't need to use a noisy pre-amp on your turntable. There is an auxillary input but I would have liked to see at least two sets of aux inputs as the whole concept of seperates is to have what you n...
