... have owned the Nait 3 for a year now and bought it just before Naims new 5 series came out. At first i was gutted until I realised that new is not always better. Anyone who has ever heard Naim gear will know that they do not hold the usual HiFi criteria in high regard. They eschew stereo image and soundstage to make sure that their gear can hold a tune and is as musical as possible. This involves making sure that their amps keep in time as well as possible. For anyone not familiar with this argument what they're trying to say is that some HiFi gear is not always tonally accurate and does not accurately reproduce instruments/music due to sloppy timing. And if you are obsessed with bursting your ear drums before you hit the age of 40, do not be fooled by the modest output rating. Trust me, it goes quite loud.
