Bought the PM 8000 a year ago... its a TOP amp with a ridiculous low price. In Class AB cheer power with Hi-End sound but...
In Class A mode it?s an amp with even more detail, warm realistic sound and good soundstaging you would normally only expect at prices around 1500 ? 2000$ or above. It?s a poor man?s PM17!
Technically: MonoBlock build up, HQ capcitors were you need them, everything in the source selection is relai driven, copper isolated discrete HD-opamps (two new features in comparison to the old PM80's) al potentios are from Alps (as usual with marantz) and a double Alps motorized potentio for the volume control! So it's got HQ remote volume control as well. Simply incredible for just 700$

But it's tone control is ofcourse less audiophile but there is the 'source direct' to bypass this.
