Advantages: Portable, great sound, decent battery life.
Disadvantages: Overdrive is only a button and there's only one tone dial.
What a fantastic little thing this is. I really can't get over how wonderful it is. Portable guitar amp that runs off a single 9V battery and costs £30, genius.
I decided to buy it purely on the gimmicky level and I thought it would be a cool thing to have around. But I've come to respect this thing much more than a gadget or gimmick.
It looks brilliant, it captures that trademark look and feel of the bigger and more expensive orange amps. It's built sturdily and has survived numerous bashings off the floor.
The Amps features an over drive button. Single tone dial and volume dial. Also a built in tuner with LED's and not to mention a very handy 3.5mm headphone jack. Also a DC input if you want to plug it into mains power. Although the AC plug adapter isn't included.
The Amp sounds great when clean giving a sort of tweed sound. When over drive is pressed it becomes load and gives a good sort of crunchy drive. The over drive isn't amazing, but it makes the amp pretty darn loud, and gives you enough distortion to play most metal.
The built in tuner works wonders. The extra LED for #'s makes it super easy to tune your guitar into different tunings. The tuner in this amp is one of the easiest I have ever used.
The battery life is excellent and I would have to say it gives you at least 15-20+ hours of playing. The amp starts to sound a bit cruddy when the battery is low so you'll find yourself changing the battery before its runs completely flat.
I've found I'm using this little thing more than my 15W practice amp. Just because I can sit it up on my desk or take it outside and play away. It really is an absolutely brilliant product from orange.
Summary: If your into guitar then you should definately consider getting one. For whatever reason.
